Anna
Coming of Age in the Oregon Territory
This third book of the series brings Rebecca Harrigan and her childhood friends to an age of accountability. They live the history of the Oregon Territory as it struggles to become a state. The four girls contend with their personal feelings and emotions as they marry young men they have met in the five years they’ve lived in the Oregon Territory.
Of the four girls, Anna Tetzloff is the more prominent character in this book as she marries a young man active in the newly organized Republican party. His death at a rally was thought to be accidental. But his twin brother and Rebecca think perhaps it wasn’t. The mystery surrounding his death is finally solved and Anna is able to move forward with her life.
Many historical dates and events relating to Oregon Statehood are stirred into this book. There is much happiness as well as overwhelming sorrow in this story of four young women coming of age in the 1850s Oregon Territory.
